Giraffe Baby Quilt

I have a different craft to share with you today....my other passion....quilting.
I made a quilt for a young couple who have been trying for years to have a baby. I can't imagine the anguish that would come from not being able to conceive a child. So I made them a quilt to celebrate their little one that is arriving in April.

Here are my steps from beginning to end! First the fabrics and the pattern. I saw this fabric and pattern on a site and fell in love with it. I couldn't find it anywhere locally, so I ordered a jelly roll and a layer cake from ebay. My friend ordered the yardage for the back from another site.

The little giraffes are just adorable!

Here are my cut pieces....

And then the sewing begins....

Strip piecing ready to iron seams open....

The squares are complete....

Aren't they adorable?

Ready to add the plain squares....

And the finished quilt....

A very talented lady did the machine quilting for me. I just love how it turned out!

My husband gave the quilt to the expectant father and he and the mommy to be were very happy with the gift.

Be sure to always count your blessings!

Have a craft filled day!

1st Snow - March 15 Stuck?! DT Reveal

It's the middle of March and time for a new sketch for Stuck?!- you can find all the info here.

I completed my layout quite a while ago and was inspired by the lovely pictures I had taken of my daughter at the first snowfall last November! Well needless to say, anyone in Southern Ontario is mighty tired of the snow, now that it is mid March and we haven't seen the grass since that first snowfall!!!!

Here is my layout.....

I love these Echo Park - Let it Snow papers!!

And don't you just love these wood snowflakes? The large ones from Paperchase and the small from Stockade.

My daughter cut out the snowflakes with her new Cameo!

Other products used  - misc washi, buttons & twine.

And here is the sketch from our talented Laura Whitaker......

The two sponsors for this sketch are Scrapmatts who are offering a chipboard prize pack valued at $20.00 to one lucky participant!

And the second sponsor is Crazy Monday Scrapbooking Kits who are offering a Project Life prize pack valued at $40.00 to a second lucky participant!

WOW!!! Those are two fabulous prizes, so be sure to link up your layout by March 29th for your chance to win!!!

Scrap Pink for a Cure

My second post today is also for the Let's Get Sketchy - Sketch A Thon Blog Hop and you can find all the information here.

This layout is near and dear to our hearts. I have attended all three of Scrapmuch? Scrap Pink fundraising crops. It is a great event!

My journaling......Four generations of family & close friends scrapping for a cure.....Sept 2012.

And here is the sketch.....I only used one photo, I printed it large and cropped it down
so everyone was in one photo.

The stipulation for this layout for Melissa was to use an older line of papers. I used Teresa Collins - Timeless. I also used Prima Bling, Thickers, DCWV Rub Ons.

Have a crafty day!
